Description
So-Called Junk DNA – Genetic “Dark Matter” – Is Actually ...

In this course we will investigate the genetics behind inheritance and the importance of genetic variation in a species. We will learn about DNA and chromosomes and how these are copied and passed down to the next generation. We will answer questions like "How can two brown-eyed parents produce a blue-eyed child?" and "Why do you look a bit like your dad and a bit like your mum?"

This course will cover the work required to complete the AS92022 assessment (Demonstrate understanding of genetic variation in relation to an identified characteristic) an externally marked report, written in class, responding to material available at the start of TERM THREE. If you are planning to continue on to level 7 biology then this standard is highly recommended.
