Our home is an island in the largest ocean in the world: Te Moananui a Kiwa, the Pacific Ocean, but what do you know about the ocean environment?
In this course, we will answer the following questions.
- What is your connection to the ocean?
- What processes drive the ocean currents, the weather and our climate?
- Why do some things float and others sink?
- Who lives in the ocean and on the shore and what processes connect these plants and animals?
- How do humans interact with the ocean? Think fishing, kaimoana, other resources and climate change.
- How can we be better kaitiaki of the moana?
Notes:
- Students will need an exercise book and pen/pencil or a digital device to write in/on.
- I'm hoping to organise a 'rocky shore' trip in week seven, parent help required:).
