The bird who partakes of the miro berry, theirs is the forest.
The bird who partakes of knowledge, the World belongs to them.
Starting with ‘What is Culture?” Learning about yourself and your connection to this country Aotearoa.
For those who wish to learn the basics of Te Reo Māori come and learn in a fun way. We will also look at Tikanga (Culture) from Māori art like Kowhaiwhai to a cultural experience with a Marae Stay.
Students will learn kupu/words in term one so they can understand and put them into sentence structures;
- Say their Pepeha with confidence,
- Count in te reo Maori from One to the Millions.
- Recognised and say colours,
- Understand and translate place words,
- Understand and know the original names of New Zealand cities,
- Understand te whanau (know family words ie. sister or brother) to add to their pepeha.
ALL of this will lead to the USE Te Reo Māori rerenga kōrero/sentences;
- Learn karakia,
- Learn whakataukī,
- Learn hapū & iwi,
- Learn tauparapara,
- Learn mihimihi,
- revise basic words fluently.
