This year long program is designed as an independently produced portfolio of work on a topic of significance to New Zealand history. Term 1 will introduce students to the plan for the year. Over this term students will decide on their topic for investigation for the year. Wide reading and the immersive phase of research planning will occur with focus on individual topics by the end of the term. Students will develop a research plan, a thesis of significance and apply lenses of perspective to their chosen topic. Assessment 91229 (2.1) and 91434 (3.1) will begin. Students are expected to have completed NCEA Level 1 assessments in History, English or Social Sciences and must be working at Level 7 of the NZ curriculum to achieve the standard of assessment at Level 2. Students who have already completed Level 2 are able to work towards Level 3 and University Entrance requirements in history.
