Hapori

A Hapori course is a non-curricular focused learning experience driven by student passion. Rooted in the concept of "hapori" or community, these courses empower students to explore diverse topics outside the traditional curriculum, fostering collaboration and a sense of ownership over their learning. With a focus on self-directed exploration, Hapori courses encourage students to pursue their interests, ranging from creative arts to technology and social issues. This initiative reflects our commitment to cultivating well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also deeply connected to their passions and the broader community.

Description

This course runs for two hours a week, and is an opportunity for students to work on developing their art skills. Students will be most successful in this class if they come with a plan (or a few ideas for a plan!).

Some possible uses for this class may be:

  • supplementing an Art class you have, and spending the time working on your art folio
  • developing a collection/portfolio of your own art (for a website? a business? a uni application?)
  • improving an art skill (undergoing a multi-week, guided drawing course to improve your drawing?, learning some digital design software like Photoshop or Illustrator?)

Though the classes will mainly involve students working on their indivudal projects, Beth will be available for feedback, advice, assistance with progressing through a goal, and helping you find the best tools to achieve your chosen project.
