Description

Welcome to Artsy English.

See course overview for how this course could be a combination English Art course, an English-heavy course or an Art-heavy course.

This term, we'll continue with our study of Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Alongside the study of our text, you can expect conversations and activities about the concepts and content of the novel. This could take the form of creating things using digital tools and discussions about how to connect the novel to our world.

After our initial novel, there will be the opportunity to get started on an assessment. Students often choose to work on one of these options:

  • English 2.6 - Create a visual text (3 credits)
  • English 2.4 - Writing folio (6 credits)
  • Visual Arts 2.3 - Approach to design briefs (4 credits)
  • other English assessments are also on offer, but will require a chat with Beth - I'm able to support you with what you'd like to do, but you should be familiar with the assessment criteria, and have some ideas of your own to get you started. Here is a list of the L2 English standards.

If you're thinking of joining this course but hope to complete a branding/design folio, that is still available. Term 1 will give you either the opportunity to get underway with your art work, or complete an English internal or two! If this is you, please discuss with Beth before joining, as we will need to make a plan for how your year will go!

This class will require attention, a keen work ethic and the willingness and patience to engage in large projects. If you simply must be on Tik Tok and taking selfies, this isn't the class for you!
