Film-making | Mahi Kiriata - Level 2 & 3
Our Media class is for senior and junior students to learn to make and create shortfilms. The teams will have entered the 48 Hour Furious Film Making competition being held from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th of May. A normally annual made bi-annual film competition that filmmakers enter to up-skill against amateurs like us. Taika Waititi has won this competition and Peter Jackson's filmmaking teams enter to keep up their skills. In past years our students teams have made it to the national finals four times. Whether we win or not it is all about the experience and the skills you will learn with a formal academic load if required and hopefully an end of year public screening for completed works.
Students will be introduced to THREE 'parts' that have separate credits.
Part 1 - WRITE A SCRIPT.
Brainstorm, Plan, Craft and Draft, keeping all paperwork is a MUST! We will look at many film genres to develop your knowledge;
Part 2 - PRE-PRODUCTION PLAN.
Design & Plan to Film; Write about your design;
Part 3 - PRODUCE A FILM.
Use a design to film, edit add sound and effects for screening. Write a reflection;
Actors and creative writers can join this class too to help our filmmakers work on and develop the films as filmmaking is collaborative.
