Description

Science is involved in nearly all aspects of life. The purpose of the nature of science is to explore how science knowledge is created and used in the world.

There are four achievement aims that fit under the Nature of Science umbrella these are:

  1. Understanding about science
  2. Investigating in science
  3. Communicating in Science
  4. Participating and Contributing

We will co-construct as a group what contexts we want to explore the Nature of Science aims through. These could include but are not limited to: Science Conspiracy theories, Environmental action, Citizen science, Philosophy and ethics of science, running science investigations, the list goes on!

We will also look at construction your own science investigations and communicating your findings which can then be entered into the Canterbury Science Fair at the end of September. Link about the science fair.

You will require a 1B5 and/or a clear file to keep notes, worksheets, handouts etc, in. There will be an expectation that students are fully involved in all aspects of the class including keeping notes, completing set work, following all lab health and safety rules and, partaking in EOTC trips.
