45MAO Te Reo Juniors
For those who wish to learn the basics of Te Reo Māori come and learn in a fun way. We will also look at Tikanga (Culture) from Māori art like Kowhaiwhai to a cultural experience with a Marae Stay.
Students have learnt kupu/words in Wāhanga Tuatahi/Term One so they can understand and put them into sentence structures;
- Say their Pepeha with confidence,
- Recognised and say colours,
- Understand and translate place words,
- Understand and know the original names of New Zealand cities,
- Understand te whanau (know family words ie. sister or brother) to add to their pepeha.
Wāhanga Tuarua/Term Two;
- Count in te reo Maori from One to the Millions.
- Tinana/Body
- Wharenui; Kōwhaiwhai, Tukutuku
- ‘What is Culture?” Learning about our connection to this country Aotearoa.
Wāhanga Tuatoru/Term Three;
- Revise words from term one and two,
- Noun words; people, nature, transport, buildings, animals,
- Describing words,
- Read little readers
We will continue to USE Te Reo Māori kupu/words in rerenga kōrero/sentences;
- Karakia,
- Whakataukī,
- Pepeha; hapū &/or iwi, whānau, parents, siblings,
- Tauparapara,
- Mihimihi,
- Revise basic words fluently.
