Description
In the THREE weeks of 4.1 in preparation for 4.2 the students will research a Māori Artist. Students will be encouraged to choose a Māori Artist and create an artwork similar or inspired by them.
“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.” - Oscar Wilde
We will continue to learn to make our own:
- Whakairo/Carving drawings – ongoing
- Grid art – ongoing
- Ngā Toi a Iwi/Tribal Arts - ongoing
Students will continue to learn the tikanga (culture) behind the art forms and the reo (language) as we go. I hope students will also look into their own whakapapa/geneology and find other cultures they belong to.
Term 4 student will be expected to research:
- Māori Artists
- Ngā Toi a Iwi/Tribal Arts
