Ngā Toi o te Ao Tawhito mo te Ao Tawhiti - Arts of the Old World for the Distant World.

In 4.2 & 4.3 Students will be learning the language, the culture and mainly some of our Māori Arts to help them in their artistic creations and we will be located at the Climate Action Campus (CAC) for the whole 6 weeks; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. 9:00am-3:00pm. Students can bus to and from the campus.
On Wednesdays students will need to return to our Ao Tawhiti campus for Homebase & Blue Block.
The proposed programme will cover:
- Karakia,
- Waiata,
- Pepeha,
- Whakapapa looking at one’s geneology,
- Te Reo me ōna Tikanga
- Pangarau/Maths Māori styles & language,
- Goal Setting,
- Iwi, Hapu,
- Retelling our legends, Storytelling,
- Designing for all topics like whakapapa to retelling,
- Design to canvas (note: if parents want to donate canvasses they will be appreciated)
- Design for carving; stone, pounamu & wood
In Week 8 I hope to have a Gallery Art Show of the students work.
Students need:
- A3 Art envelope; Clearbook A4 &/or A3; pencil, eraser, ruler, canvas any size; although a lot of these can be supplied
- Lunch for shared lunches (rostered parents maybe organised in term 4?)
Parents/Whānau are most welcome to come to the CAC and our attend lessons if you have the time. A more detailed rātaka -intinary will be supplied in Term 4.
