Description

In this course we will investigate the genetics behind inheritance and the importance of genetic variation in a species. We will learn about DNA and chromosomes and how these are copied and passed down to the next generation. We will answer questions like "How can two brown-eyed parents produce a blue-eyed child?" and "Why do you look a bit like your Dad and a bit like your Mum?"

This course will cover the work required to complete the external AS90948 (4 credits). If you are planning to continue on to level 7 biology, then this standard is highly recommended.

The majority of the term will be spent preparing you for the Level 1 Science external assessment (an end-of-year exam). The last few weeks end of the term we will revise and practice exam type questions.

There will be another opportunity to complete this standard in Term 3 with Michelle Verkaaik.
