Hapori

A Hapori course is a non-curricular focused learning experience driven by student passion. Rooted in the concept of "hapori" or community, these courses empower students to explore diverse topics outside the traditional curriculum, fostering collaboration and a sense of ownership over their learning. With a focus on self-directed exploration, Hapori courses encourage students to pursue their interests, ranging from creative arts to technology and social issues. This initiative reflects our commitment to cultivating well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also deeply connected to their passions and the broader community.

Description

Form & Function is all about using shape and materials to allow increased functionality of a product or space. We will use architecture and architectural concepts to design buildings, clothes and infrastructure.
In this course, you will be introduced to different design styles and influences, so that you can start to develop a preferred style. You will be given some ideas for how to design shoes, living spaces, clothes, buildings, public transport, houses, and storage spaces, and then you will design your own by drawing it on paper. You do not have to be a great artist or already have drawing skill, Form & Function focusses on the ideas that you are creating and becoming more familiar with design styles you like.
Our tools will be a maths exercise book, a pencil, eraser, and a ruler.

This course will be held on Monday only. The Wednesday block will be used for Arotahi.
