Description

We will begin the term by looking at what are oxidation and reduction reactions, how ions are involved and what the reaction observations look like through practicals. Students will then have the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding in an internal assessment worth 3 credits. (AS91167).

Secondly, we will make a start on the first of two external standards, the content we cover in Structure and Bonding, forms the foundation for a range of key chemistry concepts that will serve you moving forward in your journey within Chemistry.

We will explore what makes up an atom, how do different atoms bond together and what properties does this give these molecules, the shapes they form, and then we will look at energy changes that can occur during certain reactions. This content works towards AS91164 which is an external exam worth 5 credits.
