Description

For the first few weeks of term 3 we will be finishing off the physics internal from term 2, then we will launch into genetics!

We will investigate the genetics behind inheritance and the importance of genetic variation in a species. We will learn about DNA and chromosomes and how these are copied and passed down to the next generation. We will answer questions like "How can two brown-eyed parents produce a blue-eyed child?" and "Why do you look a bit like your dad and a bit like your mum?"

This course will cover the work required to complete the external AS92022 "Demonstrate understanding of genetic variation in relation to an identified characteristic" (5 credits). If you are planning to continue on to level 7 biology then this standard is highly recommended.
