PŪTAIAO Ā-NUKU | EARTH SCIENCE - MASTER OF DISASTER, senior version

Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Tsunamis, and the geological processes that cause them... In this course we will work with scientists from the University of Canterbury to discover how they learn about natural disasters in order to work out how probable different events are and how we can try to keep people safe. This will include field trips to our local volcano and other sites of interest, and also to the University of Canterbury to explore their brand new Geology rock garden and to experiment with volcanic eruptions.

Students will be supported to study towards any and all of the ESS externals at levels 2, 3 and scholarship, as well as a possible internal assessments at level 2 (AS91189: Geological Processes) and 3 (AS91412: Geological dating).
