This guided, self-directed art class is for students ready to take their creativity seriously. Choose your own medium: painting, printmaking, digital design, sculpture, clay, photography or more—and spend the term developing and completing an artwork or a small series or starting on a body of work to further develop next year for NCEA level Visual Arts.
You'll have dedicated studio time and support through regular feedback and one-on-one guidance.
The focus is on creativity, self-direction, and learning to see like an artist. Come with a project idea—or a few—and we will help you shape a plan and select the right tools and materials.
You might use this class to:
- Build a portfolio for a website, exhibition, or future study
- Develop a specific skill, like digital illustration or figure drawing
- Explore something new, like photography or sculpture
Note:
This is a self-managed class with clear expectations around device use, time management, and documenting your process.
