Welcome to Senior English (with an arty sprinkle).
Term one will involve studying a novel and/or some short texts. Alongside the study of our text, you can expect conversations and activities about the concepts and content of the novel. This could take the form of creating things using digital tools and discussions about how to connect the novel to our world. As novel studies go, you can expect discussions about our world and how concepts in the novel relate to our lives. These chats will be supplemented by cool videos/stories/activities to help deepen our understanding, and might also provide you with a collection of texts on which to do some further assessments, later in the year.
After our initial novel, students will have the opportunity to get started on an assessment. Typical choices are:
- English 2.6 - Create a visual text (3 credits)
- English 2.7 - Connections across texts (4 credits)
- English 3.7 - Connections across texts (4 credits)
- Visual Arts 2.3 - Approach to design briefs (4 credits)
As always, your success in classes like this is related to how likely much you participate/engage with the content, the discussions and the activities. Come along with your interesting stories and willingness to involve yourself, and we'll have a great year, nerding it up with some cool literature! :)
