This senior art class, taught by Vicki and Zara, is for students studying NCEA Level 1, 2, or 3 Visual Arts. Students can develop skills in painting, photography, printmaking, design, digital art, and sculpture while building their art folio. It is recommended to also take 678ART in the Yellow block.
Course Content
Students work on long-term art projects and learn visual art methods, research, idea development, and practical techniques. A workbook is used to record research, ideas, and artist inspiration.
Students are introduced to different media and artist models before developing their own theme and direction for their folio.
Assessment
Students usually complete one internal assessment each term and produce an externally assessed art portfolio at the end of the year.
- Level 1: Up to 15 NCEA credits (including a 1×A1 folio panel).
- Levels 2: Up to 20 NCEA credits (including a 2 panel folio).
- Levels 3: Up to 22 NCEA credits (including a 3 panel folio).
Students must remain in the course for the full year to complete the portfolio.
