Like movies? Like digital art? Like learning computery stuff? This course is for you. No need to be a Star Wars nerd yet (but we may turn you into one).
In this course, we'll use Star Wars as a vehicle to engage in Media Studies. We'll learn film techniques through studying various Star Wars-related films and TV, and we'll learn what happens behind the camera, on the computer, and on paper to create amazing films. Expect to learn drawing skills, design skills, filming and editing skills along the way.
You will explore the secrets of visual storytelling, storyboarding and concept art, and the technical wizardry that brings imagination to life. Whether you dream of being a director, a designer, or a digital creator, this is your chance to unlock your potential.
Last term, we explored why filmmakers make artistic decisions, and we started making our own art based on the texts we studied in class. We learned a few drawing skills, and gained some experience using Photoshop to create storyboards. Expect more of this in term two, but we'll also branch into digital film editing, and sound creation!
