English - Language and Context

For the first half of term 2, we will build on our study of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time" by exploring new texts that share its important themes and unique context. Our focus will shift toward language analysis; specifically, how language is used to deepen meaning and impact within a specific setting. Everything we cover at the start of this term is designed to prepare you for your first internal assessment: English 1.1 Demonstrate understanding of how context shapes verbal language use. 

For the second half of term 2, you will have the chance to take what you have learned about language/context and create your own visual/verbal product. Specifics still TBC
