Description

Join Daniel and Kate in this block to learn about Aotearoa New Zealand's awesome and unique plants, animals and fungi.

Image source: Two moa shown in an illustration by John Megahan, in NZ Herald Article, May 2019.

We will learn to tell whether things are alive or not; how NZ's plants and animals "arrived" here; who Charles Darwin was; and what the future holds for our plants and animals on a changing planet.   Yes, the focus is Aotearoa, however, if your passion is velociraptors, corpse plants or woolly mammoths there is time for you to get up close - theoretically, obviously.

Be prepared for upfront teaching as well as practical sessions, STEM sessions and mini-assessments.

You will need an exercise book or a laptop/chromebook to write in or on.  A device for research would be useful.
