This term we will be exploring Physics! 

The concepts we will be looking at are:  

• Forces - Looking at what causes objects to move, speed up, slow down or completely stop. 
• Energy - Looking at different forms of energy such as sound, light, kinetic and heat, and how energy transforms from one form to another. 
• Electricity - Looking at how electricity travels in a range of different circuits. 
• Magnetism - Looking at what a magnet is and how this works. We will then explore how this applies in contexts as such magnetic fields and electric cars. 

You will also work on an individual Science Fair project - this can be from any area of Science that you have an interest in. There will be within-school competition with the other L5 classes, and the best entries will be encouraged to go on to represent themselves and the school in the NIWA Canterbury-Westland competition.
