This term we will be learning about Sociology of Sport. This looks into Social, Political, Ethical, Environmental, Economic, Cultural and Historical factors that affect sport. It is an interesting unit that enables you to look at and understand sport in another light. You will research and draw conclusions on the influences that sport has on yourself, others and communities using a sports event, trend or impact of your choice. Some of the issues we will discuss will include drugs in sport, sexualisation of athletes, Olympics, Springbok tour.
Within the practicals we will be developing capacities to work towards our first performance assessment - this term will be in centred around the invasion sports of basketball/netball. The assessment for these will be:
- AS91330 - 4 credits - Perform a physical activity in an applied setting (Level 2).
- AS91501 - 4 credits - Demonstrate quality performance of a physical activity in an applied setting (Level 3).
