Pūtaiao | Science: Cool Chemistry and Funky Physics

In this course, we'll take a tour through some of the level four physics and chemistry curriculum.

For chemistry, we'll observe matter: its physical and chemical properties, how it can change and how it can be used by humans and in the natural processes we studied in Terms 1 and 2.

For physics, our interest will be: movement, forces, electricity, magnetism, and heat. You'll have the opportunity to undertake research on a future energy source of your choice, and we'll debate the pros and cons of these sources as a class.

You can expect a healthy mix of:
- theory and practical lessons
- LA led teaching and student choice
- Group work and individual work

Note:

1. You need an exercise book and pencil, or a device to write in/on.  
2. Some of our time will be in the lab so you need to be able to manage yourself safely in this learning environment.
3. If numbers are higher than is allowed in the lab, you will need to be able to self-direct while we take turns.
