Welcome to Senior English (with an arty sprinkle).
Term three is a continuation of Term 2 - a study of the novel Flowers for Algernon. As always, this will involve discussions, supplementary materials (videos/podcasts/studies/articles) and activities to deepen our understanding of the ideas in the novel. Most of our learning will contribute toward an overarching theme of intelligence, in preparation for our film, which we'll begin towards the end of the term.
Through this class, students will have the opportunity to work on assessments. Typical choices are:
- English 2.6 - Create a visual text (3 credits)
- English 2.7 - Connections across texts (4 credits)
- English 3.7 - Connections across texts (4 credits)
Visual Arts 2.3 - Approach to design briefs (4 credits)
...this is not an exhaustive list, and students are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the full list of English assessments at Level 2 and Level 3.
As always, your success in classes like this is related to how much you participate/engage with the content, the discussions and the activities. Come along with your interesting stories and willingness to involve yourself, and we'll have a great year, nerding it up with some cool literature! :)
