Description

This course delves into the fascinating world of social psychology, exploring how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are influenced by the presence of others. We will investigate key concepts such as social influence, conformity, obedience, and the power of persuasion.

We'll examine hidden biases and cognitive distortions that often cloud our judgment and hinder our interactions with others. We will explore how these phenomenon (such as confirmation bias, negativity bias, and the bandwagon effect) can unconsciously shape our perceptions and influence our decisions.

Through a combination of classroom discussions, interactive activities, and self-reflection, students will learn to identify and challenge their own biases, develop greater self-awareness, and improve their ability to navigate complex social situations with greater empathy and understanding.

This will be a completely device-free classroom, emphasising active participation, respectful dialogue, and critical thinking. High expectations will be set for all students to engage in thoughtful discussions and contribute meaningfully to class activities.
