Who is really pulling the strings? This course explores the concept of control in our lives. How much of our day-to-day existence do we actually control? What else influences us, and are we even aware of it?
In the first half of the course, we investigate Leadership across history and the modern world. We will debate what makes a "good" leader versus a "bad" leader, and how individuals gain and abuse power. In the second half, we shift to Control. After a whole-class look at how control operates in society, you will have the flexibility to run your own inquiry into a topic of your choice. You could explore the hidden power of brands and advertising, societal norms, systems of government, or how the environment controls human behaviour.
This course will be a deep dive into how the world works, questioning authority, and sharpening your critical thinking skills. Maybe you might have a future career in politics?...
