Have you ever wondered what you are actually made of? Or how a plain beam of white light can magically transform into a brilliant rainbow?
Welcome to the ultimate science adventure! In this course, we are going to shrink down to the size of a trillionth of a millimeter to explore the building blocks of the universe, and then zoom out to bend light right before our very eyes. Get ready to experiment, investigate, and uncover the hidden rules that make our world work.
⚛️ What Will We Discover?
Part 1: The Invisible Universe (Models of the Atom) Everything around you—your desk, your dog, and even the stars in the sky—is made of tiny puzzle pieces called atoms. But what does an atom actually look like if we can't see it? We’ll travel through history to see how brilliant (and sometimes slightly crazy) scientists figured out the shape of the atom, from solid spheres to solar systems in miniature!
Part 2: The Element Matchmaker (Chemistry & The Periodic Table) Meet the Periodic Table: the ultimate cheat sheet to the universe! We’ll decode this massive chart of elements and figure out why some metals fizz in water while other gases make balloons float. Then, we’ll play chemical matchmaker! You'll learn the secrets of ionic bonding—the wild process where atoms steal and trade parts of themselves to stick together and form totally new, awesome substances.
Part 3: Master of Illusions (The Physics of Light) Ever wanted to control how light travels? We’ll turn off the classroom lights and break out the ray boxes to trace brilliant beams of light across the desk! You will learn how to draw precise ray diagrams to predict exactly where light will bounce, bend, and reflect. We’ll also unlock the secrets of colour, discovering why apples look red, why the sky is blue, and how to reveal the hidden colours hiding inside everyday white light.
🧪 What Will You Actually Do?
This isn't a class where you just sit and read. You will be a scientist in action! Expect to:
- Build & Draw: Create your own models of atoms and sketch out the exact path of light like a physics pro.
- Experiment: Get hands-on with ray boxes, prisms, coloured filters, and safe chemical reactions.
- Investigate: Solve the mysteries of why elements react the way they do when they interact with each other.
🚀 Who is this course for?
If you are curious, love figuring out how things work, and want to do hands-on experiments that will make you look at the world completely differently, this is the class for you. Bring your imagination, and let’s make some science magic!
