Description

The general election is coming up in November.  Let's find out how we are governed, and how we choose our government.   To give you an idea of the content of this course, here are some of the questions we will answer together:

  • What type of government system do we have in Aotearoa | New Zealand?
  • What other types of government are there in the world?
  • How does a party get to be in government?
  • How does an idea become a law in NZ?
  • What are the values and policies of political parties competing for power at the election?
  • What are some issues we care about and what does each party say about these?
  • How can you have a say if you can't vote?

Once we've learnt the basics, you will get to create a party or a country of your own in groups.

In earlier terms, we practised our research and essay writing skills.  This term our focus is on geographic skills such as mapping.
