Description
Kabaddi is an ancient game popular in the Indian subcontinent in which two teams tackle each other. We will cover the rules and safety, and have some fun with this exciting, fast-paced game. If you are not into physical contact, this is not the game for you. This will be played on the mats in the gym.
How the Game Works
- The Teams: Two teams of seven players face off on opposite halves.
- The Raid: One player from the attacking team runs into the enemy half as the raider.
- The Chant: While in enemy territory, the raider must continuously chant "kabaddi" on a single, held breath to prove they are not inhaling.
- Scoring and Outs: The raider tries to touch (tag) opposing defenders and sprint back across the midline. If tagged, those defenders are out. If the defenders tackle and stop the raider before they cross back, the defenders win a point, and the raider is out.
