This course is a project based course where we will explore all things taiao (Environment).
For term two it is all about Whakairatanga (Conception).
We will start by looking at the design process behind landscape design, for example how to draw site plans to scale, hard and soft landscape features, environmental factors, and local government regulations that need to be met. We will connect with local landscape designers, the team at the climate action campus, local government, nurseries etc.
Akōnga (students) will then be tasked with producing a landscape plan for a section out at the Climate Action Campus.
Once we have produced our landscape designs, students will develop a visual presentation/exhibition of their landscape designs as a way to present these designs to the stakeholders/community of the Climate Action Campus. This will be a opportunity to gain valuable feedback which we can then feed forward into our landscape building at the Climate Action Campus in Term 3.
There will also be the option of an additional research standard for those interested in genetic transfer technology (e.g selective breeding, cloning, transgenics and genetic modification) in the context of plants.
