Description

We're made of cells, but how do they operate to keep us alive?

In this course we will learn about the most basic building block of organisms - the cell. How are they structured? What are the differences between plant and animal cells? How do cells gain the resources they need and get rid of waste products?

We will also look at some important cell processes like respiration, photosynthesis and cell division.

This topic will cover all of the learning required for the 4 credit external "Demonstrate understanding of life processes at the cellular level. AS91156."

In the second part of the term Biology goes to the lab! We will complete a number of practical biological investigations using the scientific method. This topic will cover all of the learning required for the 4 credit internal "Carry out a Practical Investigation. AS91153."
