Description

In this course we will investigate the genetics behind inheritance and the importance of genetic variation in a species. We will learn about DNA and chromosomes and how these are copied and passed down to the next generation. We will answer questions like "How can two brown-eyed parents produce a blue-eyed child?" and "Why do you look a bit like your dad and a bit like your mum?"

This course will cover the work required to complete the external AS90948 (4 credits). If you are planning to continue on to level 7 biology then this standard is highly recommended.

In the last part of the term we will work towards the Astronomical Cycles internal. Critical learning if you want to answer questions such as "Why do we have seasons?", "Why do we have Moon phases?", "What causes the tides?" and more...
