Note that levels 4 and 5 are intended to be two year programmes.
For term 3 we are focusing on algebra. More specifically, you will work to understand: patterns and relationships, as well as equations and expressions.
This course is designed to introduce students to foundational algebraic concepts, aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum at Level 4. Students will explore the use of symbols to represent numbers and learn to form and manipulate algebraic expressions and equations. The course aims to build strong problem-solving skills and prepare students for further study in mathematics.
Course Objectives:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Recognise and use algebraic symbols and notation.
- Construct and simplify algebraic expressions.
- Solve basic algebraic equations.
- Represent relationships using tables, graphs, and rules.
- Apply algebraic techniques to solve real-world problems.

Please note this is a 2 hour block on Tuesday and a 1 hour class on Thursday with Steve.
