Note that levels 4 and 5 are intended to be two year programmes.
5MAT with Sam builds on skills from 4MAT, such as a basic understanding of fractions, and takes them to useful and exciting places.
This class covers fractions decimals and percentages, including their more advanced concepts such as mixed numbers, ratios, rounding, and working with GST (Goods and Services Tax). It focuses on how number skills relate together, such as by combining them with negatives or using factors, multiples, and primes to add, subtract and simplify fractions.
It will be taught with pedagogies (teacher strategies) that are structured and self directed. This means having a focus on core skills and keeping a flexible pace so that students don't feel rushed or can extend themselves.
This course requires an open mind, and some understanding of fractions and other number skills from 4MAT.
