Note that levels 4 and 5 are intended to be two year programmes.
Algebra helps us take real-life situations (like growing patterns, sharing things equally, or saving money) and turn them into clear rules we can work with. Instead of guessing, we can use algebra to find answers that make sense every time.
It’s a great way to build logical thinking and confidence in solving problems.
Algebra also develops your critical thinking skills to help you to think logically and work efficiently.
It's the real deal!
Mathematics helps us make sense of the world - from spotting patterns in nature, to working out fair prices at the shops, or figuring out how long something will take. Algebra is like a secret code that unlocks those patterns and helps us explain what’s going on.
And, it's not as hard as you think!
Imagine a balance scale. When you add the same thing to both sides, or take the same thing away, the scale stays balanced. That’s what equations are like—just a balanced relationship. Once you get the hang of it, solving them feels natural.
All students will require:
- A maths graph paper exercise book for this class i.e. a 1J5 or 1E8
- A ruler
- Pens or pencils
