Document outlining 2024/2025 Mathematics plan.
Note that levels 4 and 5 are intended to be two year programmes.
For Term 3 in this mathematics class, students will explore the foundations of algebra by investigating patterns, relationships, variables, and simple expressions. Students will learn to identify and extend number sequences, describe rules in words, use input-output tables, and understand how letters can represent unknown numbers. As their confidence grows, students will begin evaluating and creating simple algebraic expressions, making connections between patterns and mathematical rules. In this term the aim is to develop algebraic thinking in a practical and engaging way and building strong foundations for future mathematical learning.
As well as algebra we will be working on other aspects of mathematical knowledge like multiplication and division, decimal numbers and time.
This course is for learners working at Phase 3 of the NZ Curriculum. We will practice perseverance, problem-solving, and a positive mindset as students grow as capable and confident mathematicians.
A Math book and pencil case including pencil, rubber and ruler are required.
