Mathematics at level 2 NCEA.

In term four, we'll revisit all of the topics for the externals:Tuanaki | Calculus, Pāngarau | Algebra, and Tūponotanga | Probability Concepts.
Tuanaki | Calculus (External - AS91262, 5 credits)
- Differentiate and integrate polynomial functions
- Find the gradient at any point on a curve
- Write the equation of a tangent line
- Identify and classify turning points
- Reconstruct functions from their derivatives
- Apply calculus to rate-of-change problems (e.g. motion)
Pāngarau | Algebra (External - AS91261, 4 credits)
- Manipulate algebraic expressions, including rational expressions
- Manipulating expressions with exponents - positive, negative, and fractional
- Solve quadratic and exponential equations
- Determine the nature of the roots of a quadratic
- Form and solve linear and quadratic equations from real-life contexts
Tūponotanga | Probability Concepts (External - AS91267, 4 credits)
- Risk and relative risk
- The normal distribution and how it is used
- Experimental distributions and relative frequency
- Representing probability using two-way tables and probability trees
