How will Business Studies be taught?

In 2025, YES will be used as a vehicle to deliver two Business Studies Achievement Standards at Level 2 or two standards at level 3. All students who complete the 4 YES challenges will also receive the YES micro-credential on their record of achievement.

What is YES?

The Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) is an opportunity for students to unleash their inner entrepreneur and experience the start-up world first-hand. It is an experiential programme where students set up and run a real business. Each YES company creates their own product or service and brings this to market. This has the potential to be life changing.

Do you need any prerequisites?

The willingness to make the most of an opportunity to set up and run a business in a real-world context paired with the ability to work at level 2 or 3 of NCEA. Business Studies is mainly project based and aims to develop learners who are able to drive their own passions.

What are the pathways?

  • Level 2 NCEA leads to level 3 NCEA which is an approved UE subject.

Students can enrol in the YES programme at level 2 or level 3. At level 3 students are required to develop their product further from level 2 and create a point of difference or students may also choose to develop an entirely new product or service.

Appeal Procedures

  • Students have the right to appeal the mark they have been awarded. If a student wishes to appeal a grade, they should initially talk to the subject learning advisor about the marking process immediately after the marked assessment task is shown to them. If still dissatisfied the student should make an appointment and discuss grades with the Principal’s Nominee who will check that the correct procedures have been followed as outlined in the school and subject policies taking into account any special circumstances.
