Note that levels 4 and 5 are intended to be two year programmes.
6MAT with Sam will be working on Algebra in Term Three.
This learning will be targeted at the Level 1 Mathematics standard '1.4 - Demonstrate Mathematical Reasoning', which is a 5 credit external that will be assessed in an end of year exam. If you are planning to do Level 7 mathematics then this standard is essential to set you up for success next year.
This course builds on, and assumes knowledge of, content that was covered in 6MAT in Term Two. Students wishing to pick up this course midway through the year may struggle without this knowledge.
There is a lot of material to cover this term, so keeping up will likely require work at home in addition to class time. In the same way, students without the baseline level of Algebraic reasoning developed in 5MAT may struggle with the more abstract concepts and graphing that we will do in the later half of the term. Having said that, the content will be a fascinating and excellent challenge for those that are prepared for it.
To be successful in this course you will need to turn up to every class with a maths exercise book, a pen, a device (such as chromebook or laptop) and a scientific calculator.
